The hidden tragedy is that modern mass media work exactly like it was demonstrated here. You can spread any rumor as fast as a bush fire and once you reach enough people you turn a bad joke into "common knowledge" that will be defended to the blood by some people as the only truth.
That's why the key to power is control of mass media. The "moron" who passed that false news very likely tried to demonstrate exactly that.

That aside, it would have been funny as hell, if it would have been on a less tragic occasion.

Pretty much yes. What astonish me is how something That obvious made it on the mass media in the first place. When the name were told ( apparently they were told on the phone ) you can obviously hear the English counterpart of it. Worse is, it made it in, in a report about a serious case. The stupidity of the reporters is mostly what I wanted to show. I doubt the announcer asked for the name personally, but instead those names got through several folks and None questionned it despite the obvious.

To be fair, at this point it's pretty hard to still be astonished by the idiocy of the media. So in that regard this is a milestone accomplishment.
